Pyrolysis recycling of plastic waste, once considered a billion-dollar graveyard of failed attempts, witnessed numerous companies investing heavily in developing solutions that often fell short of practical success. However, we defied the odds and made the impossible possible.

After over a decade of determined efforts, we are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking achievement in the history of plastic recycling: a pyrolysis unit that excels in producing high-quality pyrolysis oil from plastic waste, the next generation of the WASTX Plastic technology.

This remarkable milestone could not have been achieved without the highly fruitful collaboration between Biofabrik and Eagle Technology, a leading player in the industrial business domain.

At the heart of our strategy lies the art of partnership and a “divide and conquer” philosophy, where each party is allowed to excel and focus on what they do best.

When our 12 years of market experience and extensive network met Eagle’s 40 years of technical expertise in the oil industry, we found the perfect recipe for success!

The Partnership & the Breakthrough in Pyrolysis Recycling – Bringing Our Vision to Life

From the outset, the partnership with Eagle Technology held great promise, as we shared the same mission at core.

When our journey with the industrial business pioneer started, in 2021, they already had extensive experience in pyrolysis technology and offshore waste handling.

While this had long been a profitable venture for the company, they recently recognized the need to explore more sustainable sectors in line with their vision, “Clean Future is our Business”.

In the midst of this transition, our paths met. The great deal of synergies and a shared goal towards plastic recycling laid the foundation for our distribution partnership in Norway, ultimately leading us to manufacturing and further developing the WASTX Technology together.

As the basis for developing WASTX technology, we have used insights from our operational ITDU technology in Norway, which converts drill cuttings into recycled oil. The concept of a modular containerized plastic recycling system stems from our German partner, Biofabrik, and this was the ultimate starting point for the WASTX solution we now proudly present to you. The team behind our successful ITDU project is now dedicated to bringing the new WASTX Plastic from concept to reality.

The partnership immediately proved itself very successful: not a long time passed before we achieved a successful Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of the WASTX Plastic technology, conducting actual feedstock runs and producing market-ready oil. The new, sophisticated generation of the WASTX Plastic plant features substantial technical improvements, ready to be scaled globally.

Biofabrik’s approach extends beyond individual projects, as we rather concentrate on scaling existing technologies from 5 to 500 units: the only strategy that makes the most significant impact on the global environment. We recognize the need for a driving force that pushes the boundaries toward transformative change, and that driving force is us.” — Oliver Riedel

As the final piece of the puzzle, Biofabrik provides an offtake agreement for selling the resulting product on the market. This allows us to offer a comprehensive and fully functional business model, relieving our customers from the need to manage the sale of the output product themselves. We handle this process for them, ensuring a seamless experience.

Having a fully operational plant and a secured offtake contract are both crucial elements, and their synergy provided the necessary momentum for the project’s success – one could not function effectively without the other.

By combining our efforts, we saw the potential of successfully bringing to life our vision of a fully functional and market-ready product with global scalability. And we did it!

The Result of the Fruitful Partnership: Officially Announcing the Next Generation of the WASTX Plastic

In recognition of the immense significance of this milestone, we celebrated the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) with an exclusive live demonstration. Among the great number of delegates, we were able to convince both customers and industry experts and demonstrate the maturity of our plant.

Together with Biofabrik, we hosted our first joint-demo week together, and it could not have gone better.” Eagle Technology shared in a recent interview. “Our teams, as well as customers from all around the world, were astonished by what we had achieved in such a short amount of time”.

This resounding success laid the foundation for the plant’s official launch and its global rollout.

Save the date! — We will host an official release show in Bosnia, 24th of October
